Maria Barr is 40 years young, married to a firefighter/hockey player and has two beautiful kids, Mia and Leo. She lives in Ocean Spring, MS and you can find Maria in her downtime enjoying the outdoors, taking her kids to the park, or cheering loud in the stands for her husband as the Captain of the MS Seawovles hockey team. Maria graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2005 and started her journey as a Group Fitness Instructor shortly after when she joined the local YMCA in Jackson, MS as a Katrina refugee and was inspired to instruct. That same year, Maria became a Turbo Kick instructor through Blue Powder Productions, owned by the renowned Chalene Johnson (producer of Turbo Jam, Turbo Fire, PiYo, Hip Hop Hustle, and more). Over the years, she’s taught many different formats of fitness, which include Hip Hop Hustle, Water Aerobics, Cycling, MMA Kickboxing, and Pilates.
Maria has worn many hats over the course of her life but the hat of a fitness educator and instructor over the last 9 years has been her favorite. She has had a group fitness and personal training certification from AFAA (Aerobics and Fitness Association of America) for 18 years and also has an MMA Kickboxing Certification through UFC Competitor, Alan Belcher. Maria is currently a Master Trainer and Brand Manager for Barre Intensity and travels the country teaching others how to instruct barre & Pilates. She truly loves being able to connect with others through fitness, inspire others to reach for their goals, and guide anyone and everyone through their fitness journey!
