For a few years now I have been noticing the rise in popularity of training the gluteus maximus aka the “peach,” the “buns,” the “booty.” For as long as I have been involved in fitness training the glutes has been considered an essential part of a workout routine, but not to the extent that it has become a focus lately. HOTWORX has always offered Hot Buns, a glute focused workout in the infrared sauna. Now, in response to the continued rise in glute training popularity, HOTWORX has created new equipment that will be arriving soon in the functional training area known as the FX Zone. Each location will provide this new equipment in conjunction with the 24 hour app payment system upgrade to SCAN 24/7 that is currently underway for all locations.
Let’s talk about the “glutes” which is the street term for ”gluteus" referring to any of the large muscles of the buttocks, collectively known as the gluteal muscles. These muscles play a vital role in hip movement and stabilization, and they move the thigh. The three main gluteal muscles are the gluteus maximus, gluteus medius, and gluteus minimus.
The gluteus maximus is the largest of the “glutes” and forms the bulk of the shape of the buttocks, and it should always be a focal point in strength training because it provides for powerful hip extension rotation. The gluteus medius is located on the outer surface of the hip and is crucial for stabilizing the pelvis for walking, running and performing abduction to move the leg out and away from the midline. The gluteus minimus is the smallest glute muscle and it provides assistance to the medius for pelvic stabilization.
The glutes are essential for movements and posture. And, let’s face it, everyone wants to develop, tone and tighten the glutes!
In the coming months, each HOTWORX location, depending on the amount of space available in the FX Zone will be installing one or both of the newly developed glute machines that you see below:
The Gluteus Max has been custom made for HOTWORX, and the patent pending Booty Bungee, a unique upright hip thruster was developed by HOTWORX to also work the glutes. The Booty Bungee machine also provides a design to allow for leg raises and dips to maximize the use of space.
Here’s to new and better ways to train the Glutes!
