Have you ever heard the saying, “nothing changes if nothing changes”? Every now and then I run across people who are stuck in what is known as “analysis paralysis” in fitness and in business. They just can’t break out because they won’t make the actual choice to do so.
Recently I had such an experience with an individual who is over-thinking and seems like he is mad at the world because of it. He is an individual who over analyzes things to the point of paralysis and as a result is always bitching about everything and demeaning others instead of making the choice to improve his own situation. What did I do about him? I blocked and deleted him! I refuse to entertain negative people and that is a choice that I made!
Overthinking creates a loop of uncertainty, but real understanding and progress only come when you take the action. Make the choice. Take the step! Waiting for perfect conditions or complete certainty often leads to inaction and inappropriate communications. Progress begins with bold and less than perfect moves forward. Without a doubt, planning and testing are supremely important, but overanalyzing keeps you stuck in the same spot. Inaction is also a choice. The choice to stay where you are is in reality a choice to go backwards. While you are standing still, others are moving forward leaving you in the past. If you want a different result, you must be willing to act differently and take the action, even if it feels uncomfortable.
You can’t wait until you feel better to take the action, you have to take the action to feel better!
If you want to get fit, or if you want to improve your business as an entrepreneur, and you need to be mad, be mad with yourself, get over yourself, and then make the choice to set the right goals, do the right work, and fix the right problems.
FITNESS SUCCESS IS A CHOICE!
The choices you make determine the path that you take and how far you go down that road. It can be good or bad, it’s your choice. You can choose to listen to the right mentorship, or make your own mistakes. The latter always results in a senseless waste of time. Everybody needs a good coach, guide, trainer, instructor, take your pick, but to get to where you want to be you will need some form of a mentor. The teacher can be a historical figure, or even digital mentor. Speaking of digital mentorship, I will be making a big announcement soon about HOTWORX virtual training. Stay tuned for that.
When coaches with expert knowledge and experience endeavor to lead you to the future, my advise is to listen to what they say and then take massive action based on what you learn. You can follow the advise of those who know what they are doing, or you can fall flat on your face to figure it out later after wasting a boatload of time. Choose your training method wisely. If the training method is solid and has a track record of spectacular success, like that of the HOTWORX Training Method, then take action, follow the playbook, and stay consistent.
Choosing the right training method isn’t just about the workouts; it’s also about choosing workouts with the right leadership to inspire and guide you. HOTWORX goes to great lengths every year to ensure that the right virtual instructors are selected to bring the energy on screen inside of the saunas. When you listen to an on screen instructor who embodies true leadership—someone who understands where you are in the workout, challenges you to grow, and leads by example, you gain more than just fitness results. You gain the mindset, confidence, and clarity to become the leader of your own health journey. As a franchise, we go to great lengths to lead our customers down the right path and our business coaches go to those same great lengths to inspire the success of our franchisees.
Sometimes, the toughest part of being a fitness coach, or a business coach, is knowing when to let a client go. A true leader in fitness, and in business, understands that progress only happens when there is trust and commitment on both sides. Imagine a fitness coach or a business coach who pours their expertise and energy into crafting the perfect plan, only to have a client constantly dismiss the advice by skipping meetings or workouts, ignoring nutrition guidance, and making excuses. And sometimes they even lash out against the right choice to make. At some point, the coach must have the courage to “fire” that client, not out of anger, but out of integrity. A great fitness instructor knows that their time and leadership are valuable, and continuing to work with someone who refuses to listen only undermines the results both parties strive for. By moving on from the negativity, the coach reinforces the principle that real change requires accountability, respect, and a willingness to follow the right guidance. This holds true in franchising as well.
For a fitness client, stepping outside of their comfort zone is often the key to unlocking true transformation. Progress doesn’t come from holding on to the same negative mindset or ignoring the expert guidance of a trainer, it comes from embracing the discomfort that leads to growth. A great fitness program provides the roadmap and the right instruction, but it’s up to the client to have the discipline to follow that path, even when it feels challenging or somewhat painful. Whether it’s pushing through that last posture, committing to consistency, or making smarter nutritional choices, real results demand a willingness to break old habits, move on from limiting beliefs and trust the process. When a client chooses to fully commit and follow the advice of their trainer, they not only achieve the physical results they desire but also develop the mental toughness, confidence, and respect for their coach that carry over into every aspect of life, including business. Make the choice, take the action, and experience the change for better fitness and a higher quality of life.
