The Fitness Event

I’ve already written about the importance of setting up an event as a motivator for your fitness program.  This topic is so important, though, I feel that it is worthy of a second blog post.  In my years as an entrepreneur I have found that nothing, not even cash, motivates people more than a trip incentive for extraordinary productivity.  For example, our franchise company is currently incentivized by a potential trip to Jamaica for top performers.  We will see who will be on that Superstar Trip later this year!

An event to prepare for is probably the strongest inspiration that there is to get your body in shape.  Fitness Competitions are an extreme example.  Competing in a fitness show is certainly a reason to work out hard, but your event doesn’t have to be that intense.  It can be a simple weekend vacation to the beach that gets you to your ideal weight or that helps you to finally reveal your abs again.  All kinds of events are motivating and your imagination is your only boundary when creating these “fitness” events.  Just because I call them fitness events doesn’t mean that you have to perform some physical activity at the event, though.  Activity vacations are great and you should plan one soon, and maybe you just don’t want to be winded next time you go hiking or skiing and that is your goal. That’s great, but alternatively, maybe you want to look your very best for your friends wedding, or maybe there is a banquet you want to be sharp for, or a conference, or a high school reunion coming up.   Every event like those is an opportunity to take your fitness motivation to a higher level too.

At the corporate headquarters for HOTWORX on the Westbank of New Orleans, we facilitate two trip incentives for our corporate staff and our franchisees and their staff.  For productivity in the first half of the year, the top performers travel to the Superstar Trip in the fall.  Then the top performers sail on the Success Cruise in the spring for their productivity in the second half of the year.  Of course, these trips are designed to increase work productivity, but they also foster more intense employee fitness training as a side benefit to the organization.  A healthier staff means more productivity, as has been well documented!!!

So, get passionate about your next trip.  Set up a vacation or identify an upcoming event that inspires you, daily, to bring it when you train!  Be sure to supplement your workouts with hot exercise.  And remember… The quality of how you look and feel and live depends on your level of motivation!!!!
