Time is of the Essence in Fitness

During my flight home to New Orleans yesterday my mind began to reflect on my quick little trip to New York. If you are a business person or a fitness professional, NYC is super appealing because it’s a place that screams productivity, and I love that! Spending time in Manhattan, and having the opportunity to visit the first HOTWORX to open in the state of New York, in Bethpage on Long Island, made me think about my personal productivity and the importance of “time” once again.

The center of NYC is known as Times Square. I stayed at a hotel in Times Square for this trip. So, Times Square, and the fast pace of the city, was front and center on my mind. You know that you’re in a place that values every moment when they name their town square “Time”.

Here’s some historical perspective. The mayor renamed the square from Longacre to Times in 1904 when the The New York Times newspaper moved into a building that is now known as One Times Square. Everybody knows that NYC is place where things move fast and the energy level is always high. No other city knows the value of time like New York. I must admit that I like the fast pace and the “get it done” spirit of NYC.

Having said that, I am happy to announce that a lease has been signed and development is under way for the very first Manhattan HOTWORX franchise location on Broadway that will open soon to provide MORE WORKOUT in LESS TIME for New Yorkers!

The point is this. Your time is valuable. I would argue that time is the most valuable commodity that we have. Time is something we try to extend for our lifetime and time is what we try to make the most of while we are here, at least for those who want to live longer and get things done!

Fitness is all about time…intervals of it, sets of it, reps of it, recovery periods of it. Ultimately, fitness time is about how long it takes to get the results that you want. As the old saying goes, time is of the essence. In fitness you have to do it now and get it done with no wasted time.

Gym time should be efficient. Why not get more out of your workout in less time?

In my book, HOT EXERCISE, I begin the very first page with this:

“Time is perhaps the most valuable commodity we have in life. We might even go as far as to say all human advancement is the result of an effort to improve the quality of time.
Think about it—think about any innovation. Let’s take an obvious one, the computer, which was invented to accelerate information processing to make it more readily available. Since its introduction in the 20th century, technologists have endeavored to improve upon the computer’s capabilities at an ever-expanding and exponential rate. The Apple Watch or Fitbit you use to accelerate your workout effectiveness is a product of this technology race to satisfy your need to make the most out of every minute of your life.”

I think most people would agree that getting the most from a workout in the shortest period of time would be preferred so that they can get on with other important things in life. Everyone wants more time to spend with family, friends and to do other passionate endeavors they might have.

The HOTWORX 3D Training Method combining heat, infrared energy, and exercise reduces the amount of time needed for a workout while also delivering all of the health benefits associated with infrared sauna sessions. It’s a time management game changer for fitness. Time is always of the essence in fitness!
