Fear of Missing an Opportunity

HOTWORX congratulates franchisees, Joe and Tonya Dycus, who were awarded 3 franchise licenses in the Los Angeles market and recently opened their Temecula, CA studio!

What originally motivated you to consider a business opportunity?
My wife and I have been self-employed, selling printing and promotional items for 20 plus years now. Our customer base for our printing company is new car dealerships. These dealerships have been slowly trying to, and succeeding at, going paperless for years now. We sell them the forms you sign when buying a car and when having your car serviced. Them switching to a more paperless business is what motivated us to consider a business opportunity. But honestly, even when sales are strong, we have always been open to consider other business opportunities. We have to keep an eye out for opportunities for fear of missing an opportunity.

What led you to explore franchising rather than an independent business?
I was originally closed to the idea of a franchise. Fortunately, my wife kept an open mind . . . I was concerned mostly with losing my freedom of creativity and also of feeling like I have a job. I was concerned with what would seem inconsequential to some, but worried me, that the franchisor might decide to hire a politically controversial spokesperson, for example, and polarize our customer base. Basically, I was concerned the franchisor might make decisions that could affect our success negatively.

I was actually doing research on opening a gym, independently, not as a franchise. We’ve started more than one business from the ground up before, so I know I can. I was looking into a gym specifically because of the recurring monthly membership dues. But then my wife got a Facebook advertisement in her Newsfeed for HOTWORX (because our phones listen and track us LOL). As I looked into the HOTWORX opportunity, I started to realize opening a franchise rather than trying to start from scratch is a smarter way to move forward. HOTWORX has a checklist for everything!! This was a huge selling point for me!!

How was your experience going through the HOTWORX Discovery Process?
We enjoyed the Discovery Process. I wanted it to move faster, so I asked our recruiter and she was accommodating and moved our phone calls a few days apart instead of a week apart. It was very informative and interesting. We loved it.

How would you describe your Orientation Day and meeting the HOTWORX Executive Team?
We enjoyed meeting the team, by online meetings, on Orientation Day. We expected the team would need to reschedule because many of them had no power as they had just been hit by a hurricane and flooding. Such resilient people! Orientation Day was full of so much information that by the end our heads were spinning.

What advice would you give to other candidates considering the opportunity to franchise with HOTWORX?
HOTWORX is more than accommodating with plenty of information needed to make an informed decision, and the Discovery Process gives candidates plenty of time to get their questions answered.

What are the top 3 reasons you chose to franchise with HOTWORX?
1. It’s an opportunity with repeat business. The customers pay every month for as long as they feel they are getting a benefit.
2. Low employee costs - It’s not a labor intensive business model. The virtual instruction is brilliant.
3. We believe in the product. From my short time doing hot yoga, I know this concept gives results and with results comes customer loyalty.

What excites you the most in offering HOTWORX to your community?
We are most excited to be offering a product that gives real results!

What goals do you plan to accomplish in your first year as a HOTWORX franchisee?
To get our first studio quickly self-sufficient financially so we can start on the opening of our second studio, and to additionally make our Performance Coach proud!

How will HOTWORX help you achieve your personal and professional goals?
Our current two companies we own and operate as our only income are very labor intensive. Currently we are unable to earn more unless we can find more hours in a day. HOTWORX will allow us to have an additional stream of income without requiring us to work 60+ hours a week to make it happen, because HOTWORX has a system in place that will allow us to hire managers to help us manage our studios. We have not taken a day off other than holidays and weekends for 20 years; even when we get out of town, we still work remotely for hours a day every day. HOTWORX will help us achieve our personal and professional goal of being able to earn more without working ourselves to death trying to do it.
