HOTWORX congratulates franchisees, Sharon and Johnny Anderson, who were awarded 2 franchise licenses in the Salt Lake City market and recently opened their Taylorsville, UT (Crossroads) studio!
What originally motivated you to consider a business opportunity?
Currently we own and operate childcare centers in Utah. Johnny is President and CEO and I work as the Food Program Specialist, making sure all our centers conform with the rules and regulations of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). We are always looking for new business opportunities. I have a degree in fitness and created an afterschool fitness program at our centers for the kids. I thoroughly loved teaching the children and watching them learn to have fun while getting fit. I have always been extremely interested in the fitness world and am always looking for new types and styles of working out. I tried hot yoga years ago and have been looking for a low-key place close to my house. I googled hot yoga and came across a new studio called HOTWORX located about 20 minutes from my house. I set up a free workout and tour. I fell in love with working out in a hot sauna because of getting more of a workout in less time, burning more calories, and quicker muscle recovery. I signed up for a membership and have continued to attend sessions there. As I inquired further, I found out that there were franchise opportunities and I approached Johnny about the idea. It felt like a great fit for us and the whole idea just felt right. Everything just fell into place.
We have 7 (mostly adult) children, and we hope that this business adventure can benefit them by showing them how to research and explore business opportunities and instill in them the desire to work hard and reach for their dreams.
What led you to explore franchising rather than an independent business?
I love that everything is mapped out for us. I love that there is a team supporting us through the process.
What was your initial impression of your first HOTWORX session?
I was curious to see what it was like to workout in a sauna. I’ve been in a sauna before, and I’ve done the workouts before. Combining them is exhilarating. Once I experienced it, I wanted my family and friends to experience it as well. There definitely is nothing like it.
How was your experience going through the HOTWORX Discovery Process?
Process was eye opening, exciting, and overwhelming at times. We felt that all of our questions were addressed and fears laid to rest. Thank you, Patricia, for presenting the information in a professional and friendly way.
How would you describe your Orientation Day and meeting the HOTWORX Executive Team?
We were excited (and nervous) for Orientation Day. I’m not going to lie—I woke up several times that night with the jitters. It was fun putting a name to face as we met the Executive Team. We covered a lot of information but feel that we will be guided well through the upcoming process. We feel like everyone wants us to succeed as much as we do.

The advice we would give to other candidates considering to franchise with HOTWORX is to do your research and go through the Discovery Process and if it feels good then go for it.

What goals do you plan to accomplish in your first year as a HOTWORX franchisee?
Our goal this first year is to get our location up and running, open with 242 members, and to make a profit. We would also like to make it into the 500 club.
How will HOTWORX help you achieve your personal and professional goals?
When I was going to school, I always dreamt of having my own fitness studio. I feel like HOTWORX can fulfill this dream for me. It can also help me obtain my personal goals of health and fitness, and, of course, my dream to make some money to go toward retirement and future travel!
