The Hot Air of Hot Yoga

Fitness Studio Air Quality matters, especially for hot yoga, pilates and other forms of hot exercise. Most fitness centers that incorporate some form of heated studio into their fitness programming use traditional heating that is blown in by an HV/AC system. This type of heating relies on the pumping of hot air into a room in the effort to raise the temperature of the workout environment. The problem with this is the air quality. Air blown from venting is processed and dirty. To add to the issue, when the air is blown through the vents as it is pushed out through a furnace and it is loud.

Innovation and Virtual Instructors Make Hot Yoga and More a 24-7 Reality

The HOTWORX concept began with the idea that a sauna could be designed so that clients could experience hot yoga with infrared heat. That 63 square foot sauna design was a success, but a by-product of that innovation was the realization that the HOTWORX sauna could be used in a setting that allowed for 24 hour fitness usage. Thus, the 24 hour infrared fitness studio was born into existence on Feb. 13, 2017 in Oxford, MS with the opening of the first HOTWORX Studio…and with that, the world’s first studio for 24 hour hot yoga (and more) became a reality.

Precision Infrared Outperforms Conventional Heat for Workouts

Heated workouts in the form of hot yoga have been around for half a century and those hot yoga sessions have been almost exclusively delivered inside of studios heated with conventional HV/AC equipment. This type of environment is loud from the heater fans and stuffy from the hot air that is being blown everywhere. The Infrared Burn Off Effect

Infrared energy and heat can penetrate the skin 1.5 inches and can accelerate the fat burning process. Fat breaks down and becomes water soluble at approximately 100.5 degrees fahrenheit. At that temperature fat breaks into particles. When fats are broken down into particles they are more easily flushed by exercise postures forcing them out of the body through bodily functions including infrared induced sweating and through the liver, kidneys, bowels and through the lungs.

The Perfect Workout Temperature, Set it and Leave it!

Hot Exercise began with yoga. The idea was to recreate the environment of India where yoga originally developed as a wellness practice and discipline. Typical hot yoga studios are heated ranging from 90 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit with a humidity level of 40%. Indeed this makes the studio very hot and muggy like the Indian climate, but it does not make for the best temperature or air quality for a workout.
