Each week I talk to new HOTWORX franchise owners for Orientation Day on video. One of my main challenges to them is to set big goals for their new business. The average of anything should never be the goal.

I would argue that the most important component of business marketing is uniqueness. Of course there are many important aspects of marketing such as professional imagery and and ad production, but if the product is not memorable based on its uniqueness, then it will fail to gain sizable traction in the marketplace. Market differentiation happens when there is product and service uniqueness.

The practice of adding workout variety through cross-training is gaining in popularity. The reason is because cross-training accelerates performance. The real benefit from cross-training is the gains that come from the blended variety of workouts.

Motivation is fundamental to working out. Working out requires work and work requires motion. You have to get off the couch to do the work! You can always do more than you think you can do and now is the time to get yourself in motion! What is the thing that can stimulate you toward action? Belief that you can do it is how it starts.

Lactic acid is produced during and following an intense workout interval. This happens because blood flow cannot keep up with the oxygen transport needs for the working muscles to meet the demands of the movement and resistance during this anaerobic state. Huge amounts of lactic acid is built up during HIIT and this helps to remove excess fat through the requirement of increased fat and carbohydrate oxidation. “Some fitness experts argue that training at lactic acid threshold is necessary to burn fat.”¹

The Holiday Season is here! I’m sure there will be plenty of cheer, but there will also be more stress. We all should make a promise to ourselves not to overindulge this year. Of course, that is easier said than done. But if we make a conscious effort then I am sure we can all dodge the binge and stress train that is headed our way.

What are the risks, if any, associated with exposure to infrared heat and infrared energy for women who have breast implants? First, let’s take a look at the two types of breast implants so that we can understand what is being exposed during an infrared session.

There are hundreds of fitness apps in the marketplace but there is only one app that is dedicated to infrared sauna training available 24/7 and that is the Burn Off App from HOTWORX. The HOTWORX Burn Off App was designed to keep clients on a rolling 90 day infrared fitness challenge. When a new member joins a HOTWORX studio and begins to use the Burn Off App, they start their first 90 day challenge and every 90 days thereafter the challenge resets.

In fitness new things are always being introduced to the marketplace. . These new products and services range from exercise machines to supplements, workouts, apps, gadgets, etc. Some of these things last but most disappear as fast as they are introduced. We’ve all seen those “miracle” fitness gadgets on tv infomercials and home shopping networks.

Most of us are familiar with clothing that is designed to compress the body in some way. How did this type of gear become such a necessary part of working out? Tights for dancers have been around for a long time. Tights were invented by a French costume designer in the early 1800’s to upgrade the look and improve the presentations of ballet. Perhaps ballet attire can be attributed with the earliest known use of compression gear designed to enhance physical performance.

I am sure that you’ve had a three dimensional experience from a visual standpoint. Take movies for example. Compare a really good 3D movie to a non-3D movie, or compare it to color movies from the last century, or go all the way back to black and white films. Obviously, the movies have come a long way in providing a better experience for movie goers. It makes a huge difference by adding the spacial experience of 3D.

Three months! Just three months to a new you. No doubt you’ve heard this before. Have you ever thought about why fitness brands promote the three month, 12 week, 90 Day Challenge?Last weeks blog topic was all about forming a good habit. Think about the illustrative equation below:Habit + Time = Lifestyle

I hear from people all the time who tell me they are addicted to HOTWORX. I also see similar statements as a continuing theme in comments and posts on social media. The positivity from this engagement is super uplifting! I’ve read hundreds of comments about how good customers feel inside of the infrared sauna while they workout, and, about the re-energized state of mind and body they have after the workout. As an avid user of HOTWORX myself, I can attest to this experience personally. I am addicted to the effectiveness of infrared fitness.

Inside of a sauna the close proximities lends itself to isometrics as opposed to dynamic motion and more ballistic styles of training. Professional trainers who design workout programs understand that there exists an opportunity for intense workouts with almost no impact to the human body from a properly choreographed infrared sauna routine.

I would venture to say that most workout routines in America today end in a failure. They fail due to poor results. The individual will aspire to achieve the goal but becomes frustrated and falls off the workout wagon.

A professional fitness competitor once said to me that “there is no change inside the comfort zone.” Indeed, that is the truth. In fact if you are standing still in a comfort zone then you are actually moving backwards while others are passing you by. In my opinion, the only “comfort zone” that is worthwhile is a good vacation to recharge your batteries for even more action at a higher level.

I have written a couple of blog articles about the impact of upcoming vacations as motivational events for your workout program. A planned vacation such as a trip to Tulum for the beach or an escape to Aspen for a ski trip can do wonders to motivate you to workout. But it doesn’t have to be a full blown vacation to motivate. It can be a simple weekend college football game that drives you to give your best effort at the gym or studio.

I have been training clients now for three decades. Since my days of training for bodybuilding competitions I have known from experience that it is always more motivating to train with a partner, or even two training partners. There is no doubt that training with others is more motivating than training alone.

To gain an understanding of the exercise hormone let’s first look at how fat is stored and released. We store fat when we eat more calories than we burn. We know that body fat is found inside of white fat cells. The main function of white fat cells is to store fat.

Every now and then I see an article published by a well known periodical proclaiming that there is no way to detox through sweating. What planet are they from? Surely not Earth, and those writers are certainly not paying attention to the scientific evidence. The question of whether or not sweating is detoxifying has already been answered over and over again through scientific research. The answer to that question, then, is a resounding yes, sweating does release toxins and toxicants from the body. The real question is how should the process of sweating be formalized into therapeutic detoxification protocols.

Here's the bad news first:Aside from the cosmetics, belly fat is a major health problem! As quoted from one New York Times article, “If your waist measures 35 or more inches for women or 40 or more inches for men, chances are you’re harboring a potentially dangerous amount of abdominal fat.”¹

First of all, let’s clear the air when it comes to the way we throw around the term toxins. Most people use the word toxins to describe all toxic substances. This is wrong. There are two forms of toxic substances, toxins and toxicants. The word “toxin” should only be used in describing natural forms and “toxicant” should be used to describe non-natural sources.

Those who know me well know that I have great respect for the historical figure General Patton. Indeed, I do have a fascination with America’s most successful general. Patton’s army gained the most territory, killed and/or captured the most number of the enemy in the shortest amount of time of any other American general. When I think of Patton I think of results. In fitness, the only way to obtain results is to take action. Patton believed that an army should always be on the attack. He never believed in falling back to regroup, and in his words “I don’t like to pay for the same real estate twice”.

It should go without saying that you have to be disciplined if you expect results from your fitness regime. Only YOU can get yourself to the gym on a regular basis. You must find a way to muster the self discipline that it takes to keep yourself going consistently. Make your workout regime a part of your life in the same way that you brush your teeth in the morning. Working out can be fun if you train your mind to become a fitness enthusiast. Training your mind to create a good habit takes discipline.
