As the benefits of infrared become more evident and more widely known, the number of doctors who use infrared in treatments and who recommend its use also continues to grow. The purpose of this blog post is to report to you how some of those doctors are using infrared with their medical practices.

Infrared energy and heat can penetrate the skin 1.5 inches and can accelerate the fat burning process. Fat breaks down and becomes water soluble at approximately 100.5 degrees fahrenheit. At that temperature fat breaks into particles. When fats are broken down into particles they are more easily flushed by exercise postures forcing them out of the body through bodily functions including infrared induced sweating and through the liver, kidneys, bowels and through the lungs.

Absorption of infrared through the skin is very good for you. Have you ever wondered why the warmth of the sun feels so good while you are laying out at the beach or by the pool? The warmth is actually infrared energy through heat that you are feeling. As the infrared light waves penetrate your skin up to 1.5 inches, there is something good happening within your cells as they interact with the infrared energy.

Let’s face it. Yoga has been an elitist exercise program for far too long. From the high cost of the sessions to the over the top practices and strange ritualisms, yoga has been perceived and is still perceived by most average folk as a form of fitness that is just too far out for them.No more of that!

What, where, and when was the first hot exercise practice? It depends on how you define hot exercise. Since we first coined the term “hot exercise” right here on this blog, we have defined it to mean any exercise that is performed within an enclosed workout room or studio that has been heated.

Hot Exercise began with yoga. The idea was to recreate the environment of India where yoga originally developed as a wellness practice and discipline. Typical hot yoga studios are heated ranging from 90 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit with a humidity level of 40%. Indeed this makes the studio very hot and muggy like the Indian climate, but it does not make for the best temperature or air quality for a workout.

Detoxification is widely debated in the health and fitness industry. What we know for sure is that the body uses organs for detoxification. The kidneys, liver, colon, lungs, lymph glands and the skin are used to rid the body of toxic waste. A short list of these toxicants (and toxins) include heavy metals and other environmental pollutants, food waste, alcohol, medications, poisons, pesticides, harmful bacteria and parasites.

Proper verbal queuing is the most important tool that a trainer has in his fitness tool kit. This is especially true when training small groups with varied levels of fitness skills. Proper countdown timing of exercise sets is also of utmost importance when executing an isometric posture or a high intensity interval.

That being said, too much water intake can be bad for your body. Yes, you CAN overdose on water. The key is to properly time when, and in what quantity of water should you drink throughout your day. As always, finding the right balance is what you need to do.

I find it amusing when I hear people talk about water consumption as if somehow it doesn’t count when something is added to the water. Some athletes actually believe that flavored drinks (the good or bad drinks) can’t be counted in the daily water consumption measurement of ounces. Of course, that is a false perception…”water folly”, if you will.

It’s not too often in fitness that a new training discovery is revealed that would classify as epic. I would have to say that the article that I will cite from in this post explains a new and yes, epic, fitness paradigm shift.

If you have ever experienced poor sleep quality, then you know that it can be detrimental to your work productivity and to your general quality of life. Simply put, you feel like crap when you don’t get enough sleep. I experienced poor sleep quality myself until I discovered infrared sauna workouts. For the past three years my sleep has been greatly improved with regular infrared workouts.

So, I’m here in Oxford, MS this week, my second home. This is the town where I attended Ole Miss for my undergraduate degree and where I opened my very first business when I was 23, a basic gym with a weight room and an aerobics studio back in 1987. There were no 24 hour gyms to speak of back in the 80’s.

The immune system is your body's ability to recognize and defend itself against infectious bacteria, organisms, viruses and the development of disease. The lymph system consists of tissues that store white blood cells that are used for fighting disease within the body. The lymph nodes are the radar for the body providing early detection when harmful organisms have made their intrusions into the body. Upon detection, the lymph system is prompted to make more infection-fighting white blood cells called lymphocytes.Infrared exposure supports the immune system:“Fact: Far infrared saunas provide a gentle, side-effect-free, effective mechanism for detoxification

I am amused when I see certain so-called “infrared” fitness studios that claim to provide infrared fitness classes from live in-studio instructors. The reason I am amused is because they have gone to the trouble of opening an entire fitness studio based on a false assumption.

Summer is here and we are all looking to tone up fast for the weekend trips to the beach! One of the most efficient ways to get your body toned quick is through infrared training. One of the reasons for this is due to the elevated heat shock protein (HSP) production during exposure to a heated infrared sauna and during exercise.

We know that light travels in waves, and that those waves consist of particles known as photons thanks to Einstein. The length of the light wave from crest to crest determines the color of the light within the visible spectrum and it determines the effect the light has on objects from the non-visible spectrum as well.

Energy from an infrared sauna can be absorbed into the skin 1.5 inches or more. Since the radiant heat from an infrared sauna warms the body from within rather than just heating the body with hot air from the outside, things happen on a cellular level in response to the infrared penetration through the skin.
