The Power of Consistency!

Two things really annoy me when I see them practiced by personal trainers and fitness instructors of all types of exercise. One, many trainers just ignore the importance of flexibility as a component of each workout and the second thing that really gets under my skin is when instructors advise clients that they must do something different EVERY time they workout. Injuries happen frequently due to this schizophrenic approach to training.

Nothing motivates people better than a good vacation goal. Yet, no matter the fitness program, there will always be those who perform at a higher level of effort, intensity and focus. If you ask those people why they work harder, they will most likely tell you that they are getting ready for something. That something is usually either a sports competition/event, a vacation, or a combination of the two. For the highest level of motivation I recommend a combination of the two!

The BONFIRE Workout

The HOTWORX BONFIRE Workout consists of a single workout session using the combination of a hot 15 minute HIIT workout, either cycle or cross-row, and then immediately switching over to an isometric sauna for a 30 minute workout of either ISO, yoga or pilates. What an incredible workout this is! It is a must experience for any fitness enthusiast.

Yoga Mat (and Towel) Mania!

Your yoga mat, and towel is a personal thing. These two items are as important to an isometric workout as a good pair of Nike’s are to a runner. When people experience yoga, pilates and other forms of isometrics with a really good mat and towel they will never go back to a lesser quality experience.

Hot Warrior

We have several new workout videos that are being introduced now and one of them is Hot Warrior. Hot Warrior is another great HOTWORX 30 minute isometric workout. We employed the services of Nichole Mellison, professional trainer and pro bikini competitor, for this workout. The idea was to take the Hot ISO, our original HOTWORX workout to a higher level. Mission accomplished!

I decided to stay over the weekend and go skiing to free my mind… Turns out there is a cool little spot to ski about 40 miles into the mountains away from the strip to the north.

Stay on Track This Year!

A driver should never drive without a speedometer. A pilot can’t fly without an altimeter, and a scuba diver should never dive without a dive watch.At the very least, any serious workout person should include the use of a reliable measuring tool for the two most important fitness metrics, heart rate and calorie burn. The challenge is for that person to find the right fitness tracker for them.

How's Your Altitude?

Most athletes have experienced some form of training in higher altitudes than what might be normal for them. Each year I compare my level of conditioning to the previous year by how I perform on the ski slopes. I began skiing when I was 32. I’m 53 now and I can tell you that this year my level of cardio conditioning was by far the best that I have ever experienced on the slopes.

I happened to end my work trip in Salt Lake City, so I planned ahead to spend a few days on the ski slopes.I use snow skiing as a motivational tool when I work out. My ski trips are planned and then used as my physical GOAL!
