Most athletes have experienced some form of training in higher altitudes than what might be normal for them. Each year I compare my level of conditioning to the previous year by how I perform on the ski slopes. I began skiing when I was 32. I’m 53 now and I can tell you that this year my level of cardio conditioning was by far the best that I have ever experienced on the slopes.

After working non-stop, on the road across the Northwest part of the USA for the last 6 days, I went for some down time today. I happened to end my work trip in Salt Lake City, so I planned ahead to spend a few days on the ski slopes.I use snow skiing as a motivational tool when I work out. My ski trips are planned and then used as my physical GOAL!

It has been proven that training with others improves workout performance. Plenty of scientific evidence proves this, but let’s face it, common sense should tell us that effort increases when others are around. A workout group of three people makes for a good fitness team. Small group training has gained tremendous popularity in recent years and for good reason.

I don’t mean to brag, but HOLY CRAP man…the calorie after-burn from a HOTWORX workout is tremendous. I’ll just use myself and my Apple Watch as proof. I am 5’ 10”, 185 lbs., fit and 53 years young. As I have travelled coast to coast visiting gyms, clubs and spas that have installed HOTWORX infrared saunas, one thing that I hear from the customers at all of these locations is how the HOTWORX workouts have elevated their quality of life. The more you hydrate during a workout in the sauna, the more you sweat. The more you sweat, the more you detox. Make sure you hydrate properly. By that I mean keep your sports drink shaker next to you and drink plenty and whenever you need to.

It takes a special person to achieve the highest level of motivation for a workout practicing solo with no other people around. Even when training by yourself, you always achieve a higher level of performance if you have a trainer to push you or if you are simply in a workout environment such as a gym or a park where there are others around.

It is easy for anyone to equate sweating with detoxification. What is not so easily understood is detoxification based on muscle compression. When you flex your biceps doing curls, you are compressing your muscles and constricting blood flow. When you relax the flexion you can feel the flush of the constricted blood flow release. When this happens toxins are flushed out of the body!

If you missed the first ever HOTWORX Conference, you missed a unique workout. It was likely the first large group isometric workout ever in the mid-summer heat on the top of a hotel on the Strip in Las Vegas.
